Mobile drive-through barrier: OktaBlock

Protection against vehicle impacts from any direction

The OktaBlock mobile vehicle barrier secures access roads to event sites. One of the most important features is the octagonal base plate with a serrated edge. In the event of a vehicle impact, the bollard tilts forward and the base plate with its prongs wedges between the vehicle and the road. As a result of the braking effect, the vehicle comes to a standstill after a few metres and is unroadworthy.

Due to its axisymmetric geometry, the Hörmann OktaBlock has no predefined impact side and can thus prevent a vehicle collision from any direction.

The Hörmann OktaBlock is internationally patented.

Mobile drive-through barrier: Road Blocker M30

For flexible and certified safeguarding of events

The Road Blocker M30 is the ideal solution for safe and flexible access control. The mobile road blocker comes in a practical modular system and enables flexible combination of individual modules depending on requirements. This makes it simple to combine modules with retractable alarm contact element with modules for pedestrian passage. With a barrier height of approx. 800 mm the mobile Road Blocker M30 secures passages and provides maximum safety while offering a high degree of flexibility in areas requiring special protection. Certifications in accordance with the latest standard for mobile access protection DIN SPEC 91414-1 and IWA 14 are available.

Certified access protection

Effective against vehicles breaking through

Crash test - OktaBlock

The effect of the OktaBlock has been proven in several crash tests.

The mobile vehicle barrier meets the crash test standards of the international safety standards BSI PAS68:2013 and IWA-14-1:2013. In the prescribed test, an unmanned truck with a test weight of 7.5 tonnes and a speed of 50 km/h drives against a single OktaBlock module. The resulting impact energy is around 750,000 joules.

The OktaBlock TR is designed and certified in accordance with the even stricter requirements of the German police's technical guidelines for mobile vehicle barriers. In the test carried out on a wet road, the barrier must absorb an impact from two different angles of 90 and 45 degrees, with a maximum impact energy of up to 986000 joules in protection category SK1B.

In a constellation of three OktaBlock TR and two DIN SPEC loops, the OktaBlock was also certified in accordance with DIN SPEC 91414-1 and achieved the best results in the impact and displacement test.

In contrast to other mobile solutions, all certificates are valid even when individual modules are used, so it is not necessary to connect several modules. This ensures maximum flexibility and unobstructed escape routes without visual blockages.

The Road Blocker M30: certified mobile access protection to the latest standard

The Road Blocker M30 fulfils the requirements of IWA 14 and DIN SPEC 91414-1, the latest and most stringent standard for mobile vehicle barriers. In addition to an impact test, it also includes a displacement test and a manipulation test. A 7.5-tonne truck travelling at 50 km/h therefore also collided with the Road Blocker M30 in the crash test - and was successfully slowed down. The additional displacement test achieved an excellent value of just 0.1 metres, and the result of the tampering test was tamper resistance class 2 (MK2).

Customised to your event

Simple, flexible, efficient, location-independent

Maximum flexibility

The Hörmann OktaBlock can be arranged individually, in rows or staggered to secure small and large areas quickly and economically. It enables an optimum passage width of 1.20 metres, which protects people from driving through and at the same time allows people travelling by bike, wheelchair or on foot to pass comfortably. It blends unobtrusively into the overall concept of events and is not perceived as threatening. The mobile Road Blocker M30 is ideal for use at vehicle passage points. It functions on a modular basis: Elements with lowerable barrier elements can be easily combined with elements for pedestrian passage. Caring alone or together OktaBlock and mobile Road Blocker M30 ensure maximum safety in particularly vulnerable areas. Hörmann thus offers an efficient, flexible complete solution from a single source. An access protection concept must be drawn up by an expert to ensure that the mobile vehicle barriers are set up in accordance with requirements and standards.

Accessories and extras

Special plus point for the OktaBlock: The area of the vehicle barriers can be used for advertising or signage purposes using a round banner. What's more, a universal adapter can be used to attach the familiar and widely used construction site lights from road traffic to the head of the OktaBlock. This means that the bollard is also clearly visible at night. Both the universal adapter and the construction site light are available from Hörmann.

Simple logistics

The OktaBlock can be easily positioned using a crane or forklift truck thanks to a ring eyelet that can be screwed into the bollard head and can be set up and put down without any specialised technical knowledge. Hörmann also offers the OktaMover hydraulic transport aid (pictured left). This enables quick and easy placement even without motorised special vehicles that require a special driving licence - for example, to quickly create a passage for emergency vehicles. The mobile vehicle barrier cannot be moved or manipulated without a crane, forklift or the OktaMover. Security is not required before or during the event. The individual elements can be stored outdoors and transported on standard lorries in a space-saving manner.
